Who is JL Arts ?
JL Arts is a New York based general contracting company that was started by James La Poche in 2003. James's background in the arts and design field led to an easy transition to decorative painting and specialty finishes, such as venetian plaster, gold leaf and wallpapering. As his client base and knowledge grew, more and more clients asked him to take on a bigger role in projects until he became a general contractor. He now oversees a multitude of projects from beginning to end and specializes in kitchen and bathroom renovations. James' breadth of knowledge of construction has transitioned JL Arts Ltd into a highly sought after construction company for homes, restaurants and offices.
I just want to upgrade my bathroom and paint my apartment. Can JL Arts do a smaller project like this?
Of course! We realize that some homeowners may decide to embark on a total renovation while others would just like to update or replace a bathroom or kitchen with new tiling, cabinetry, lighting, or plumbing fixtures. We can suggest solutions that work within your budget.
How long will my project take?
Every project will vary in length depending on the scope of the job. A total renovation of an apartment may take 6 months to a year depending on the size, but a bathroom renovation could take as little as a month. We ensure that all materials are specified and ordered ahead of time so that there are minimal delays.
Often the longest part of a potential job can be getting architectual permits from the building, village or city review boards. These will normally be handled by the architect and it may take up to 6 months before a job can even begin. Co-Op boards typically use their own architect to review plans first. Then they are submitted to the city for approval.
